Hosting on GitHub Pages

This website is hosted as a static site on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you access the site, GitHub processes technically necessary server log data, in particular your IP address, the user agent of your browser and the time of the request, in order to deliver the pages and to ensure the security and stability of the service.

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in the reliable and secure provision of this website, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO). We have no access to these logs beyond what GitHub provides. We do not store these logs ourselves; GitHub retains them only for as long as necessary for security and operational purposes. GitHub acts as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR) and processes this data also on servers in the United States. As a safeguard for this third-country transfer, GitHub, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing an adequate level of data protection (Art. 45 GDPR); in addition, GitHub offers standard contractual clauses.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking, analytics or advertising tools. We embed no external services. Specifically:

Fonts are self-hosted and delivered from our own domain. We do not use Google Fonts or any other font delivery service.
The project map is our own SVG graphic, delivered locally. We do not embed Google Maps or any other map service.
No third-party scripts, no social media plugins, no content delivery networks beyond the hosting described above.

Because the site is purely static, no personal data is collected by us when you simply browse it.

Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (your email address, name if given and the content of your message) solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual steps and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

We delete correspondence once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.

Updates to this policy

We will update this policy if the way this website works changes. As long as the site remains static and free of third-party services, there is little to update.
