Europe's Next-Generation IPP

Other people talk. We act.

Every year, wind and solar farms are switched off because the grid cannot absorb what they produce. We build grid-scale battery storage that keeps that power instead of losing it. Germany is our starting market. Europe is the scaling plan.

2.4 GW Development pipeline across acquisitions, framework partnerships and proprietary projects
70 MW In realization today: Lauta (40 MW, Saxony) and Plettenberg (30 MW, North Rhine-Westphalia)
960 MW Proprietary development portfolio: six advanced projects, 2.27 GWh of storage capacity
>1 GW Targeted in operation by the end of 2029. That is the plan and we publish our progress.
The Generational Shift

Generation one burned fuel. Generation two harvested weather. Generation three stores the difference.

Every generation of independent power producers was defined by the asset it owned: first the power plant, then the wind farm. Acton is building the third, an IPP whose asset is flexibility itself.

Gen 1 · 1990s to 2010s

Fossil production

Large thermal plants produced baseload power from fuel. Reliable, but carbon-intensive and inflexible.

Asset
Coal, gas and nuclear plants
Revenue model
Wholesale market and long-term PPAs
Gen 2 · 2010s to 2020s

Renewable production

Solar and wind produce zero-marginal-cost electricity, but only when the sun shines or the wind blows.

Asset
Solar PV, onshore and offshore wind
Revenue model
Subsidies, fixed PPAs, merchant tail
Gen 3 · 2025 onwards

Flexibility production

Grid-scale storage plus intelligent trading produces value from volatility, around the clock. This is where Acton operates.

Asset
Grid-scale battery storage portfolio
Revenue model
Merchant trading, grid services, optimization
Portfolio

Eight sites. One grid. One continent.

From the Emsland to Lusatia: two projects in realization, six proprietary developments. Every project is listed with its data, because substance beats slogans. Poland and Italy are on the map as our next markets.

In realization

Lauta

Bautzen district, Saxony · 40 MW / 100 MWh · Target COD 2027

In realization

Plettenberg

Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia · 30 MW / 90 MWh · Target COD 2027

In development

Langenfeld

Rhineland, North Rhine-Westphalia · 350 MW / 800 MWh

Batteries respond to the grid in fractions of a second. We build them where they are needed most.

Why storage, why now 9.4 TWh

of renewable electricity was curtailed in Germany in 2024. Wind farms switched off, solar disconnected: energy produced and thrown away. Storage turns that loss into supply.

The case is systemic and it is quantified.

Shifted at scale, surplus replaces gas. If all eight of our projects are built and each shifts one full cycle a day, the arithmetic gives around 330,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. That is a model result, not a target. The method and its source are on our Impact page.
